Three new weekend events start in Spring this fall, and each one is designed to repeat. Klein Farmers Market opens on Kuykendahl Road and then meets twice a month. City Place starts a Sunday car show that it calls monthly. Old Town Spring is turning its one-night Christmas Tree Lighting into six weeks of holiday Saturdays. Each started out as a single date or had no date at all. By December, they share the same weekends.
So this season works more like a schedule than a list of events. Once you know which Saturdays these series land on, you can plan around them, and you can see where they pile up.
Old Town Spring turns one night into a season
The Old Town Spring district says its Christmas Tree Lighting has opened the holiday season for 46 years. This year the lighting is listed for Saturday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 403 Main St. What changes is what follows. The district's 2026 plan, called Hometown Holidays, adds six Signature Saturdays from Nov. 14 through Dec. 19 and holiday programming across the district through Dec. 24.
The district's planning packet is open about why. It calls the season "designed for return visits" and says each Signature Saturday should give people "a new reason to return to Old Town Spring." Two dates are already named after the tree lighting:
- Dec. 12: a Holiday Drone Show, which the packet calls one of the season's most anticipated experiences
- Dec. 19: the Christmas Extravaganza, which closes the six-Saturday run
The packet also describes "The Great Give Back," with live music, secret shoppers and in-town promotions, but it doesn't give a date. The other Saturdays don't have published themes yet. The packet is a sponsorship plan, so details may change before November. It says promotion starts in mid-October, so expect the full lineup to fill in over the next few weeks.
Old Town Spring already has weeknight events that repeat. MB Speakeasy at 417A Gentry St. hosts Karaoke Night with Yelba and Roy on Oct. 6 and Oct. 20, from 7 to 10 p.m. It also holds open mic nights on Oct. 7 and Oct. 21 at the same hours. The Oct. 21 night is hosted by Stephen Ketner. Hometown Holidays brings a repeating schedule to Saturdays as well, with a Signature Saturday every week from Nov. 14 through Dec. 19.
A market built around showing up on schedule
Klein Farmers Market works on the same idea from the other direction. Founder Jessica Wilcox also owns the local business Wander Stamped. The market's website says she started it after seeing local vendors struggle to get into "oversaturated or extremely competitive" nearby markets. Her stated goal is "a recurring community market where Klein-area families can shop locally, support small businesses and producers, and connect with their community." For vendors, the main selling point is a regular spot they can count on.
The grand opening is Saturday, Oct. 24, in the outdoor parking lot at Memorial Baptist Church, 22333 Kuykendahl Road, with parking on site. The first guests get limited-edition reusable tote bags with coupons, samples and offers from local businesses. After that, the market meets on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The posted dates for the rest of 2026 are Nov. 7, Nov. 21, Dec. 5 and Dec. 19. The grand opening falls on the fourth Saturday of October, so it sits outside the regular schedule.
No vendors have been named yet. The market's vendor page asks for growers, bakers, makers, artisans, food vendors and small businesses selling produce, baked goods, handmade items, flowers, food and drinks.
City Place gives Sunday morning a fixed slot
At City Place in Springwoods Village, the new standing date falls on a Sunday. The free Supercar Showcase starts Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at City Place Plaza, and City Place calls it "a new monthly event in Spring." Owners of Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin and other makes can register their cars at supercar-showcase.com. Organizers say showing up before 8:30 a.m. gives you the best chance at a good spot. Spectators can walk the lineup with a coffee from Common Bond or Starbucks. Oct. 11 is the second Sunday of the month. City Place hasn't posted November or December dates yet, so check before assuming it repeats on the second Sunday.
The plaza already runs a weekly schedule. City Place's fall calendar includes Zumba, Zumba Latin Fusion, HIIT on The Plaza, Strength & Sculpt and yoga, along with a fall season of Soccer Shots. On Oct. 7, for example, Soccer Shots runs from 5 to 6:15 p.m. and Strength & Sculpt runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., both at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive. The car show adds a monthly weekend event on top of that weekly base.
Where the schedules land on the same day
Three different organizers set these schedules on their own, so some weekends end up crowded and others stay quiet. Here are the published dates in order:
- Sun., Oct. 11: First Supercar Showcase, City Place Plaza, 9 a.m. to noon
- Sat., Oct. 24: Klein Farmers Market grand opening, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free City Place Fall Festival runs from noon to 4 p.m. at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive, with a vendor market, a pumpkin patch and fall characters
- Sat., Nov. 7: Klein Farmers Market
- Sat., Nov. 14: Old Town Spring Grand Christmas Tree Lighting, 6 to 9 p.m.
- Sat., Nov. 21: Klein Farmers Market and a Signature Saturday in Old Town Spring
- Sat., Nov. 28: Signature Saturday
- Sat., Dec. 5: Klein Farmers Market and a Signature Saturday
- Sat., Dec. 12: Holiday Drone Show in Old Town Spring
- Sat., Dec. 19: Klein Farmers Market and the Christmas Extravaganza
Oct. 24 is the clearest example. The market closes at 1 p.m., an hour after the City Place festival opens, so you can do the Kuykendahl market in the morning and the pumpkin patch in the afternoon without rushing. In December, the market and Old Town Spring's Saturdays line up on Dec. 5 and Dec. 19. The tree lighting is the only evening event with published hours. On the other Saturdays, the order you do things in depends on times Old Town Spring hasn't posted yet.
Nov. 14 and Dec. 12 have no market. Nov. 7 has no Old Town Spring programming. Those Saturdays are lighter, and once the calendar fills up, a lighter Saturday can be the easier one to plan.
Tables that opened in time for the in-between hours
A market morning or a car-show Sunday still leaves the rest of the day open, and several new restaurants opened in September. Casa Nueva Mexican Grill and Bar soft-opened Sept. 16 at 8921 Louetta Road, serving Tex-Mex and seafood with a full bar. Farther down the same road, Donut Block & Cafe soft-opened in mid-September at 3403 Louetta Road with donuts, coffee, sandwiches and kolaches. The full menu wasn't available yet during the soft opening.
Lima Grill started serving Peruvian food on Sept. 10 at 20326 Tomball Parkway, Suite 100. Panaderia las Delicias opened its second Cuban bakery and restaurant in August at 4539 FM 1960 W. For afternoons with kids, Muse Mantra School of Music & Arts opened a location on Sept. 26 at 7827 Spring Cypress Road and is enrolling students for lessons.
If you keep track of what has opened in Old Town Spring since summer, these openings add to the list we covered in what's actually new in Old Town Spring this summer.
The longest-running date is still on the drawing board
One more project fits the same pattern, though on a much longer timeline. The Houston Parks Board and Harris County Precinct 3 are designing the Cypresswood Spring Trail. It's planned as a 3.52-mile, 8-foot-wide concrete path linking the Cypress Creek Greenway and the Spring Creek Greenway. Lisa Graiff, a senior project manager with the Houston Parks Board, said design should finish by July 2027. Construction would then take about a year, with completion estimated for July 2028. She also said the schedule could slip if federal funding for the roughly $5 million construction cost isn't secured by July 2027.
According to Graiff, about 57,000 people live within 1.5 miles of the planned route, or about a 10-minute bike ride. The alignment map shows two minor and three major road crossings, and four areas have been identified as possible trailheads. Precinct 3 plans to add 911 mile markers every quarter mile so emergency responders can find callers quickly. The next public chance to weigh in is a community update meeting the Houston Parks Board expects to hold between January and March 2027.
